A Beardless Barry??
26 March 2010

One of your favourite guides, Barry Davies has now completed the Leukaemia Foundation's 'World's Greatest Shave'. Having only shaved his beard off once in 40 years, his two boys wanted to see me without one, although his wife Wendy wasn't so sure. So on Easter Friday, the deed was done at Binna Burra Lodge and so far he's managed to raise $3782.

You can still help him hit the $4000 mark and the best option to go online at www.worldsgreatestshave.com (Click on the ‘Sponsor a Shaver’ button and search for ‘Barry Davies’).

Thank you all for supporting the wonderful cause of the Leukaemia Foundation.

P.S. See Barry clean skinned on Queensland’s Lava Tubes to Lawn Hill tour, WA’s Karijini to Kalbarri or Victoria’s Prom to Croajingalong tour. I’m also planning my next trip to New Zealand for Feb 2011.

Ultimate Tour
26 March 2010

If asked to design your ultimate journey, where would you go and what would you do? Here’s your chance to answer these questions in our Ultimate Tour competition. Open to anyone interested in the outdoors and walking, we are asking you to come up with a 1-3 week tour anywhere in the world.  The winning entry gets to travel for free on their tour! (land content only).

You need to produce a day by day itinerary (samples of which you can download from our website). We also need you to research preferred activities, hotels and transport between destinations. If you like to research and dream about travel, this is your golden opportunity!

How to design your tour:

  • Design a 1-3 week tour anywhere in the world
  • Preferably concentrate on 1-3 countries then focus on key regions and several National Parks plus cities or towns in between
  • Suggest half & full day walks – this is a key element of all our tours
  • Include suggestions for comfortable 2-4 star accommodation and ideas for other highlights such as regional food, historic or cultural sites
  • Use the internet (and sites such as Trip Advisor) to look at hotels and National Park sites (many have trail maps and descriptions)

Entry conditions:

  • Entries close Monday 31 May 2010 & a winning entry will be chosen by Wednesday 30 June 2010.
  • The judging panel will be a selection of IPT staff and guides
  • Entries are judged on their originality, viability and feasibility (eg: a multi-continental tour will be too expensive and not feasible as an IPT style tour)
  • The winning entry will be costed by interNATIONAL PARKtours and offered as a tour in our 2011 program

What to submit:

  • A detailed itinerary (here's a sample) preferably with photos and day by day activities. If possible send as a PDF or word document
  • Also send in a list of preferred hotels, interesting local restaurants, details of National Parks you want to visit, local guide contacts if possible, transport suggestions etc (the more information and research you can give us, the better)
  • Preferably send a list of websites including hotels, national parks, tourism organisations etc

Prize:

  • The winning entry receives a land content only space for one person on their tour
  • Travel from the winner’s home town to the start & ending points of the tour are not included.
  • Should the winning tour not receive sufficient bookings in 2011, we will offer an equivalent value reduction off another 2011 tour
  • The prize is not transferable beyond the 2011 calendar year

New tours in 2010
18 November 2009

East Africa, Carnarvon Gorge and the Nightcap Ranges are some of the new tours we have on offer in 2010. We have also revamped some of our favourite destinations such as Italy, Patagonia, Morocco and North Queensland. If you would like to receive the detailed itineraries of any tour, please complete the itinerary request page.

This multi-day walk, explores the mountains, World Heritage-listed rainforest, waterfalls and valleys of South East Queensland’s Gondwana Rainforests. Cross the northern ridges of Wollumbin (Australia's Green Cauldron) on this 54 km hike through Lamington National Park to Springbrook National Park. We like to think of this walk as Australia's version of the Milford or Routeburn tracks in New Zealand!

Our 5 day tour costs A$1700 and includes all meals, transport from Brisbane or the Gold Coast, luggage transfers, lodge accommodation and the knowledge of an experienced local guide. In 2010 we still have group departures as follows :  17-21 May, 16-20 August & 11-15 October.

The group size is 5-14 guests. You can also request a private tour to be arranged for a minimum of 5 people.

Request a detailed itinerary or send an email enquiry.
