Marjorie's Health Slice

Once again we have dipped into the wonderful wooden box that contains Marjorie Groom's recipe collection. We have to admit there are a lot of cake and slice recipes (she always did have a sweet tooth). Today's recipe is a healthier take on slices and could be used as a kind of home made muesli bar. Next time we'll try to look for something savoury!

 

INGREDIENTS:

1 cup unprocessed bran

2 tablespoons cocoa or carob

1 cup milk

1 cup wheatgerm

1 1/2 cups mixed fruit

1/2 cup walnuts chopped (or other nuts)

2 tablespoons honey

 

METHOD:

Mix the bran, cocoa and milk together well and let stand for 5 minutes.

Add all other incredients to the bran and milk mixture.

Spoon into a greased slice tin and bake for 30 mins in moderate to hot oven (180-200 degrees).

Ice slice if liked!
