Wilderness First Aid Training

Barry feeling a little dazed Barry feeling a little dazed

Dazed, confused and exhausted – and that was how we felt before we even entered the bush on our 4 day Wilderness First Aid course earlier this year. Several IPT guides, Binna Burra guest activities guides and members of the Brisbane Bushwalking Club bonded very quickly as we took turns bandaging and splinting limbs or playing the patient. There were some excellent acting skills with patients screaming in pain or feigning unconsciousness. This made for some very life-like and stressful scenarios – including a night-time “bus crash” scenario in the middle of the Binna Burra rainforest! We all came away feeling more confident and more prepared for any kind of first aid emergency. So if you travel with Tony, Barry, Suzanne or Lisa on an IPT tour, be prepared for them to check your vitals if you have a headache, wrap you up in emergency blankets or splint your limb at a moment’s notice!
