Our Guiding Lights

Enzo Amodio is originally from Agerola on Italy’s Amalfi coast and now resides in Melbourne with his wife Cathy and daughter Alessia. He is much loved for his friendly manner, enthusiasm and ability to enliven the Italian experience with his rendition of Neapolitan songs. In 2008 Enzo will again lead our Southern Italian Sojourn, a tour he & Cathy designed in 2001, and also our revamped Heart of Italy tour.
Mike Blackall was born in England, and has worked as a Director of Tourism in Zambia as well as General Manager of hotels in Africa, Hong Kong, Nepal, Russia and Lithuania. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and has a keen interest in both travel and photography. In 2008 Mike will once again bring a wealth of experience to our tour to Russia and the Baltics.
Teresa Cause has led tours for IPT since 2001, both in Australia and overseas. She has a degree in Environmental Science and worked as an outdoor educator for 15 years in three states. She has a passion for the outdoors and is especially interested in flora and photographing the details of wild places. In 2008 Teresa will lead our Yukon Heritage Trail tour.
 
Phil Cullen lives at Lower Beechmont and works full-time for IPT as Marketing Manager & Tour Coordinator. He also looks after our web site. Phil was a media manager, radio broadcaster and journalist for many years, working all over Australia ...while pursuing his passion for bushwalking and cultural travels. This year, Phil leads our tours to Cuba and the Loyalty Islands.
 
Barry Davies is an experienced naturalist and Certified EcoGuide. In 2005 he won the Ecotourism Association’s Rainforest Habitat Australian EcoGuide Award. Barry was a Guide and Activities Manager at Binna Burra Mountain Lodge for 20 years. In 2008 Barry has designed a brand new tour to New Zealand and will also guide several of our Australian tours.
 
Rob Elvish is a terrestrial ecologist with a wealth of experience in leading tours with a botanical and zoological focus. His knowledge of Australian birds is extensive and he is keen to share his experience with you. Rob has led tours for IPT in Australia and overseas for over 20 years. In 2008 he will join our Lava Tubes to Lawn Hill and Karijini to Kalbarri tours.
Daniel Feinstein lives in Bariloche, Argentina. He has worked as a nature and mountain guide for more than 20 years. He is a member of the Bariloche Andean Club. Daniel’s knowledge of South America, its many customs and rich natural history will add immeasurably to your tour. In 2008 he will guide our Patagonian Journey and also take you on our new Atacama Adventure.
Karin Galloway lives in Beechmont and works as a Tour Coordinator at the IPT office. Before joining IPT, she studied Marine Biology and has worked and lived as a guide and lecturer in the Maldives and the Pacific. For 2008, Karin has designed and will lead a brand-new tour to her homeland Austria, and will also co-guide our Japanese Spring Journey.
Lisa Groom took over the company reins in 2001, having grown up watching her parents pack suitcases, and working as an IPT guide since 1991. Now, with two kids of her own, Lisa is based in Beechmont most of the year managing the IPT office. In 2008 she will co-guide our tours to Corsican/Sardinia and Provence.
 
Tony Groom founded interNATIONAL PARKtours in 1975, with his wife Connie. Tony and Connie wanted to share the world’s national parks with guests in the most rewarding way - on foot. More than 30 years later, Tony has led countless walking tours throughout the world. In 2008, we have coaxed him out of retirement to lead our SE QLD and Croatia/Slovenia tours.
Fred Heckeroth is originally from California. Fred has led trips in Canada, Mexico and the US. Now living in Brisbane, Fred divides his time between business, family and guiding trips for IPT. For 2008 Fred has designed a new North American tour that takes you to remote Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. He will also guide our Gibraltar-Washpool walk.
Mel Jones is based in the Alpes Maritimes in the South Eastern corner of France. A consummate traveller and mountain enthusiast, Mel loves sharing his knowledge and passion for the outdoors. Mel is a qualified International Mountain Leader and a member of the French Accompagnateur Association. In 2008 he looks forward to meeting you on the Pathways of Provence.
Hiroko Kobayashi has designed a cultural discovery of Japan’s central island, Honshu. She is based in Brisbane for much of the year and consults to tourism bodies and companies including Kingfisher Bay. She promotes Ecotourism in both Australia and Japan, and is a Director of the Japan Ecotourism Society. Hiroko will lead our 2008 Japanese Journey in the Spring, a beautiful time to visit this fascinating region.
James & Lindsay Luddington are our Flinders Island experts. They have lived on the island for the last 34 years and operate a farm, island tours and boat cruises. In 2006, their company, Flinders Island Adventures, won the Tasmanian Regional Tourism ‘People's Choice Award’ for the Summer quarter.

Hugh Mactier has lived on Flinders Island for over 20 years. He is an experienced and keen bushwalker who knows the island backwards. Hugh still runs a sheep and cattle on the island and works as a team with James and Lindsay Luddington during the Flinders Island tour.

Sivani Mira is an enthusiastic guide with over 20 years experience in outdoor education and leading groups. Having travelled extensively, Sivani’s passion for different cultures, adventure and wild landscapes will inspire all who travel with her. In 2008, Sivani will lead IPT guests on a wonderful discovery of Vietnam and Cambodia.
Lesley Nicklason was born and raised on the family dairy at Pyengana in North East Tasmania. In recent years she has devoted much of her time and energy to exploring the forests of Tassie’s Blue Tier region. Lesley has a wealth of knowledge about the area and a profound love for her part of the planet. In 2008 she will guide the Blue Tier and South West Tasmanian tours.
Suzanne Noakes has travelled the globe for more than 20 years and has a deep understanding of the people, cultures, flora and fauna of the Melanesian and Micronesian nations. She has led many group tours into these regions and her expertise and rapport with local people, will ensure a memorable Papua New Guinea tour in 2008.
Julian Perry graduated from Loughborough University with a First Class degree in Sports’ Science. In 1996, he participated in the Torch Relay at the Athen's Olympics, running through the heart of the Taygetos Mountains. Julian developed a passion for Bulgaria, and his detailed explorations and research quickly gained him recognition as one of the leading authorities on the Bulgarian mountains.
Antonio
Antonio Reascos is from the remote Amazonas Province Zamora Chinchipe and is a long-time resident of Quito. He is a licensed National Guide and has studied Biodiversity and Volcanism, as well as the region's nature reserves and National Parks. Antonio is renowned for his friendly and outgoing personality and in 2008 is looking forward to showing you his native Ecuador.
Tony Roberts
Tony Roberts spent 20 years in the Royal Australian Navy before formalising his love of the environment by studying a BSc at James Cook University. Since graduating, Tony has shared his passion as a nature guide in Australia and the Pacific. He also volunteers with environmental organisations in the Asia Pacific region. In 2008 Tony will share his knowledge on our Cape to Cape tour to WA.
Leo San Sebastian grew up in Spain’s Basque Country and has been a professional guide for 20 years. He has traversed the Pyrenees three times, and led groups in the Pyrenees, Alps, Morocco, Tanzania, Peru, Chile, Venezuela, Pakistan and Nepal. Leo is an internationally certified mountain guide and ski instructor and speaks fluent English, Spanish and French. In 2008 he will lead our tours of Northern Spain and Morocco.

Svetoslava Tonchev is our local Bulgarian guide with Balkan Trek, one of the country’s most respected eco-tour operators. Svetoslava is a qualified mountain guide and a graduate in Ethnology at Sofia University. She is very interested in Bulgarian history and keen to share her knowledge of the local culture and traditions.
