Join us on this ultimate 15-day tour to some of Tasmania’s best natural delights during a spectacular time of year which offers mild to warm temperatures and long daylight hours. We begin our journey in Launceston, a box of architectural treasures from across the eras. We explore her riverfront paths and boardwalks, discover the crags, walkways and epic Cataract Gorge, and savour wonderful local flavours. Departing Launceston, we travel through classic ‘English-style’ countryside and head towards Mole Creek Karst National Park. First up this morning we join the hunt for secrets buried underground on a truffle farm. After lunch we take the time to gaze over the Great Western Tiers from the Alum Cliffs before setting off to explore the subterranean world of Marakoopa Cave. Late afternoon we make our way to our next destination where over the next two days we immerse ourselves in the pristine elegance of Cradle Mountain, a walking experience unlike any other. Across the Arthur River on the west coast lies the timeless landscapes of magical Takayna/Tarkine where we spend two nights at Corinna Wilderness Village. This enchanted forest is framed by button grass moorlands and a rugged coastline. To experience the many moods of the Tarkine, we cruise the Pieman River, enjoy walks in Australia’s largest temperate rainforest and have the option to kayak secluded waterways. Walk from myrtle forest to the summit of Mt Donaldson; visit the West Coast Pioneers Memorial Museum at Zeehan; and stop the night in picturesque Strahan, steeped in pioneering stories. A six-hour eco-cruise on the Gordon River / Macquarie Harbour is followed by a short visit to historic Queenstown. Onwards we go to Lake St Clair National Park to soak up lakeside vistas, hike Mt Rufus and explore scenic shoreline trails. A walk to Russell Falls in Mount Field National Park is followed by two nights at Stewarts Bay Lodge on the Tasman Peninsula. We take a Pennicott Wilderness Cruise beneath the dramatic sea cliffs of Tasman National Park and explore Port Arthur Historic Site. With three nights in Hobart we explore the famous Salamanca Market, discover the iconic Mona Museum, and enjoy a picturesque hike on Mount Wellington. Heading south towards the Huon Valley we take part in a food workshop then settle in for a long, generous farm-style lunch, celebrating seasonal Tasmanian produce.
