There are some places in the world that don’t just linger in your memory—they imprint themselves on your spirit. Sardinia is one of those places for me.
I was fortunate to travel there last year with a fantastic group of ParkTours guests, and even now, I find myself daydreaming about its sun-drenched hills, winding walking trails, and timeless villages. Sardinia, the second-largest island in the Mediterranean, offers more than just beauty—it hums with ancient history, local pride, and a rhythm of life that invites you to slow down and truly be.
We were guided by Telemaco, a true Sardinian and a remarkable storyteller, whose passion for his homeland brought every step to life. With roots stretching back generations and a heart deeply tied to the landscape, he opened doors to experiences I’d never have found on my own. From handpicked walking trails through rugged limestone hills to spontaneous moments in tiny village squares, every day unfolded like a chapter in a cherished travel journal.
One afternoon still plays vividly in my mind: a long, leisurely lunch beneath a grapevine-covered courtyard in Telemaco’s 400-year-old family home. His wife, Victoria, and their two sons welcomed us as friends, not visitors. We shared homemade dishes bursting with flavour and stories passed down through generations, all while the afternoon light danced through the vines above us.
There were sunsets viewed from hilltops where time seemed to pause, the distant chime of church bells echoing across stone rooftops. We wandered through postcard-perfect towns, but it was the lesser-known villages, the humble trattorias, and the spontaneous conversations with locals that left the most lasting impression. These were experiences beyond the ordinary—moments of true connection and discovery.
Telemaco’s approach to guiding is as dynamic as the landscape itself. He’s trained countless local guides, written guidebooks on everything from kayaking to rock climbing, and has an uncanny ability to shape each day around the best possible conditions—weather, local events, and that magical Sardinian serendipity. That sense of spontaneity, of possibility, was part of the magic.
And though Sardinia holds a special place in my heart, what I cherish most about our ParkTours journeys is that this depth of experience isn’t limited to just one destination. Whether we’re wandering through Andalusian villages, exploring the fjords of New Zealand, or walking Tuscany’s cypress-lined trails, there’s always that same quiet joy—the joy of truly being in a place, not just passing through.
If Sardinia or another soul-stirring destination is calling to you, I invite you to browse our upcoming tours. Let your next journey be one that moves you, surprises you, and reminds you of life’s quieter, richer rhythms.
Dream ahead. The path is waiting.
