Travelling in a circle from Canberra, experience the best capital, coastal, creek and mountain walks while learning about the indigenous and European history of southeast New South Wales, north-east Victoria and the ACT. Unique accommodation is a feature of this two-week tour as we enjoy extended stays in historic hotels, lodges and eco-friendly apartments. Meeting in Canberra, we see the best of our national gardens and parks such as the National Aboretum and Namadgi National Park. Here, walks give us a picture of early settler life as we step back in time past historic huts, homesteads and stockyards. While staying at Jervis Bay, we enjoy walks in Booderee National Park, exploring coastal cliffs, sandy beaches, lakes alongside heath, mangrove and forest ecosystems. We also visit Australia’s only Aboriginal owned and run botanic gardens. Continuing south along the scenic coastline into northeast Victoria, the relaxed coastal town of Mallacoota is our base for two nights. Our historic lodge accommodation is a relaxing spot after half and full day walks in Croajingolong National Park. From our base at Lake Crackenback near Jindabyne, we explore Mt Kosciuszko and the Thredbo River on day walks. In the northern area of the Kosciuszko National Park, we visit the richly decorated limestone caverns of Yarrangobilly Caves while staying in the renovated turn of the century Caves House Hotel.
