FAQ's

Below is a selection of questions we commonly get asked about our walking holidays. If you have questions that are not listed below or would like more information please contact us.

How fit do I need to be?

While the walking grades vary according to the location, any reasonably fit person can join our tours. Many walks are flexible in their length with easier and more challenging options being offered, if possible. This means that a range of walking preferences and fitness levels can usually be catered for. The general walk rating for each tour is listed with other tour information on the destinations pages of this site. Our Walk Gradings page provides further information on ratings. More information about daily walks is included in the detailed itinerary of each tour. During the tour, your guide quickly gets a feel for the range of fitness levels and can suggest options for individual guests.

Who will be my guide?

Our Guides are a big part of how you experience your tour. They are dedicated to ensuring you have a genuine, relaxed and memorable journey. They are from many nations and all walks of life, with a common love of exploring and enjoying the outdoors.

What pre-tour arrangements do I need to make?

Once you have booked a tour, we send you general and tour-specific information that will help you with your planning. This includes flight and travel options, pre and post tour accommodation, travel insurance, details of vaccinations required and potential health issues, travel documents and visas required, packing list, group meeting arrangements and more.

What gear and equipment do I need to take?

Because we focus on half and full day walks, returning to our hotel / lodge accommodation in the afternoon, you don't need to carry any more than a daypack with rain wear, sunscreen, drinking water, camera and lunch. A few tours include an overnight hike where you will need to carry personal gear for the journey. We recommend hiking boots on most of our tours as they offer good ankle support and grip. A detailed packing list is included with your tour's general details.

What's included in the tour price?

Please click here for normal inclusions. The tour itineraries provide full details of which hotels, how many meals, what transport, local guides and activities are included to make a tour special.

How does ParkTours support responsible travel?

In each country, we prefer to use locally owned hotels, restaurants, transport and tour operators. We also link up with guides and interpreters who know their local area. This means that more of your travel dollar stays in local communities rather than going to large chains and multinational companies. Because travel is a privilege, we make regular donations to community, charity and environmental groups in Australia and around the world.

For your protection, we are allied members of the Australian Federation of Travel Agents. Your payments are kept in a trust account until required for payment of your tour.
