Take a short break in south east Queensland at one of our favourite times of the year. Spring in the mountains heralds wildflowers, abundant wildlife and cool nights radiant with stars. Walks include creek explorations, exhilarating ascents of the local peaks and shorter strolls through sub-tropical rainforest in World Heritage listed areas. From Brisbane we travel south to Tamborine National Park for rainforest and lookout walks. This park is part of the Scenic Rim arc of mountains, and is made up of 13 sections of land on the Tamborine plateau. We continue south via Canungra, to spend three nights at Lamington National Park. We follow walks along the northern ridges of an ancient shield volcano, admiring the Gondwana rainforest and the creeks and waterfalls of two major rivers. Over two days, we will offer a selection of popular and lesser known walks with options to hike as much or as little as you prefer. Our final walk is a section of the Gold Coast Hinterland Great Walk in Springbrook National Park before returning to Brisbane in the late afternoon. Accommodation is in Alcheringa holiday house with home-cooked meals by two generations of the Groom family.
