North Queensland National Parks Walking Holiday
Cape Tribulation - Tourism Tropical North Queensland

Soak up the warmth of North Queensland as we travel through the Wet Tropics World Heritage area from Townsville to Cairns. This walking holiday takes in everything from tropical island beach walks, visits to spectacular waterfalls, shaded walks under the lush rainforest canopy, peaceful crater-lake wanders, mangrove boardwalks and misty mountains dropping to the fringing reefs of the Great Barrier Reef. From Townsville, we drive north to the coastal town of Cardwell, stopping at Wallaman Falls in Girringun National Park. We spend the day on Hinchinbrook Island National Park, walking a section of the Thorsborne Trail. Meandering through mill towns surrounded by cane fields, we continue to the Cassowary Coast and learn about this endangered pre-historic bird. Waterfalls are in abundance with lookouts and walks in Girramay National Park. Based at Mission Beach, we explore Dunk Island, visit whimsical Paronella Park and the colourful art deco township of Innisfail. Travelling up to the Atherton Tablelands, we walk the Nandroya Falls circuit in Wooroonooran National Park, before settling into the historic village of Yungaburra.  We enjoy easy explorative walks in Crater Lakes National Park and seek out endemic wildlife in surrounding wetlands. There is time to visit local produce farms and tea plantations. At Daintree National Park and Mossman Gorge, we learn about the traditional history of Indigenous Australia and spend time with passionate conservation groups. Travelling to Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef, we cruise hidden estuaries in search of crocodiles and wander interpretative boardwalks. Finishing in laidback Cairns, we journey to the mountain village of Kuranda, via scenic rail and return by the beautiful Skyrail Rainforest Cableway.
