Patagonian Journey - Walking Holiday

EARLY BIRD EXTENDED
Region: Rest of World // Dates: 13 October–01 November 2018 (19 nights)
Patagonian Journey Walking Holiday

Venture into Chile & Argentina’s dreamlike landscapes of where thundering waterfalls contrast with peaceful lakes and slow-moving glaciers. Be enchanted by mossy beech forests, misty peaks and conical volcanoes. From colourful Buenos Aires, we fly to San Carlos de Bariloche in the Lakes District of Argentina. Below towering Mt Tronador, walking trails lead us into the stunning landscapes of Nahuel Huapi, the oldest national park in Argentina. We cruise the fjord-like scenery of Lake Nahuel Huapi crossing into Chile for time near the base of snow-capped Osorno Volcano. Here we walk on the lower slopes of the volcano, part of Vicente Perez Rosales National Park. In Torres del Paine National Park, we have time for day walks and capturing photographs of the soaring granite towers, including the Cuernos del Paine and golden pampas (grasslands) that shelter rare wildlife such as llama-like guanacos. Moving across rolling steppes back into Argentina we spend time in El Calafate to visit one of the world’s most accessible glaciers, Perito Moreno where dramatic icefalls cleave away from the glacial wall into Lake Argentino. This area is part of World Heritage listed Los Glaciares National Park and further south at El Chalten, we enjoy walks at the base of iconic Cerro Torre and Mt Fitz Roy. With rugged, towering mountains and numerous glacial lakes this region is part of a large protected area, including the Southern Patagonia Ice Field. From Ushuaia, we explore Tierra del Fuego National Park and cruise the crystal-clear waters of the Beagle Channel to observe marine wildlife including sea lions and elephant seals resting at Sea Lions Island.
