Lively and vibrant, yet defiant and isolated, Sardinia is an island of beautiful beaches, turquoise sea, and fascinating rock formations. Known as the Stonehenge of the Mediterranean, this is also one of the famed Blue Zones where locals have one of the world’s longest life expectancies. Researchers say the Sardinians put family first, celebrate their elders, walk every day, laugh with friends, and enjoy a glass of local red Cannonau wine.
The Sardinian port of Olbia is our meeting point. Travelling via the remote Barbagia region, we make our way to our base for the next three nights, the beachside village of Cala Gonone. We walk to stunning coastal coves and use local boats to appreciate remote sections of the Orosei Gulf. Inland walks explore the Supramonte, a wild limestone dolomitic mountain chain rising up to 1463m. Part of Gennargentu National Park, this area includes forests of juniper, yew and holm oak; the karst spring of Su Gologone and the 400m limestone cliffs of Gorroppu Gorge, the ‘Grand Canyon of Europe’.
Luogosanto in the Sassari province is our inland mountain base for the next three nights from where we explore the coloured rock formations of Costa Rossa on the northwest Gallura coast; swim in blue/green waters, and marvel at the pink beaches, and tiny islets. From here we head to Corsica to explore its diverse landscapes and uncover the history and vibrant heritage of this stunning island. Our tour ends in Corte where we reflect on the geographical diversity and proud history of these enchanting islands.

Walking rating: Easy to moderate: 3-14km per walking day with some moderate sections (due to rough surfaces, steep ascents and descents on some walking days). Age is not necessarily as important as your fitness and recent walking experience, and anyone of reasonable fitness should be able to join this tour. We reserve the right to be flexible with the itinerary to allow for unforeseen circumstances including weather conditions and group fitness.

Telemaco Murgia
Born in the centre of Sardinia, the area known as a Blue zone (land of the ultra-centenarians), Telemaco has had a love of the outdoors and sports since adolescence. As a certified tourist and hiking guide, he has been leading groups for almost twenty years in Sardinia and Corsica and has participated in pioneering explorations in the wildest areas of the islands. Telemaco is a parachute instructor and personal trainer and is passionate about nature and archaeology. Telemaco competes in international adventure races and obstacle course racing and represents Italy all over the world.
